HOUSE: Newburgh

Ordered and done!

We finally made a decision about a ceiling fixture for the downstairs bathroom, and it is (of course) the one that we originally considered many months ago—the Alabax surface-mount in black porcelain from Schoolhouse Electric. I think it’ll be a nice complement to the Truman sconces that will be going next to the mirror.

I love when stupidly agonizing decisions like this are finally done with.

I’m pretty sure seeing this bathroom completed will be the highlight of my week, when it happens. The anticipation is killing me!

Isn’t it funny how you will quite often come back to the one you liked in the first place? Great choice, can’t wait to see the end result.

Wow, I wish I could get something like that black one for our hallway/dressingroom here in Sweden. Our bathroom is almost done, the only things we’re keeping are the original, standard light fixtures from the seventies and the italian towel hooks from the fifties the last owners left (that my husband found the matching cabinet to at a thrift store recently). I will post pictures on my long neglected blog once it’s done.

Very nice! I can empathize; I completely agonize over stuff like this. Paint is even worse, which is why you are probably smart to just stick to one common color throughout.

Projects would take half as long if I could just commit to the first, usually best, idea. But would they be as much fun?

wow! I love that fixture, it certainly will be a nice compliment to those sconces. You should sell the plans for this bathroom online!

I love how district the style of each of your bathrooms are even though they both are white. I’m more of a pastel with brown color combo person but I can appreciate they way you pull a room together.

Yay! I’m glad you have finally decided on the lighting. I’ve been meaning to comment for some time, but I just haven’t until now. I am absolutely in love with your home; it is what I envision my future house to be like. I am currently living in an apartment with a friend who has a more traditional taste than I (she has the most furniture), so my design tastes are stifled. Your blog has become my escape from my boring, traditional apartment (with the exception of my small additions). :]

I can’t wait for you to finish that bathroom. I think I’m as ready as you are!

We’re installing that same light fixture in white in our kitchen this week! It’s very nice in person…

I work for schoolhouse and I must say that you have impeccable taste! The Smiths print on the mantle is inspired. Well done.

Oh, and your fixture will ship tomorrow. Hope you like it.

Oliver, hello! I’m really excited about the light. Make sure it’s packed with care. 🙂

I’ll send you guys a photo when the bathroom is done!

I had never heard of Schoolhouse before, and now I am officially in LOVE.

Thanks for having great taste 🙂

I love schoolhouse electric. I bought a yellow hand painted shade with the “willamette” pendant for the kitchen and it looks amazing.

I recently found your blog and I’m totally inspired. My husband and I bought a row home in Philly in 2007 and we are in the process of renovating. Our houses look very similar…although we haven’t renovated the bathrooms yet…but I am now totally inspired to start!

Hey Anna! I put the white alabax in my kitchen above the sink. It is even more beautiful in person, but I found it a little tricky to install. I couldn’t be happier with it, though.

Your blog is awesome, makes me wait patiently for the day that I will get my own place and start renovating it…
