Folded fabrics.

2011473702_1f07cfc15c_b.jpg

The office/studio has been such a disaster for so long that it’s a huge relief to just have my fabrics folded and put away on a shelf instead of being stuffed into plastic bags. This room is going to be a big project for the weekend! I need a good, functional table to work on, and a way to make the white leather sofa (yes, we’re picking it up tomorrow morning!) fit nicely in there so it can be a comfortable room to lounge around in. Up until now, the room really has become a dumping ground for boxes, books, extra furniture, etc., but the waste of space is killing me. Over the last two weekends we cleared everything out, and now it’s time to make it functional!

That’s Mrs. Sumppi! 🙂 Last year, a friend of mine who knew I am obsessed with my mother’s Moomin dolls went on this crazy search for Fauni (the company that made them) trolls to buy for me, and she found this site! Apparently the Fauni company is now run by founder’s kids, who moved from Finland to North Carolina. My friend wound up buying me something like NINE of these trolls!! Mrs. Sumppi is my favorite, but they’re pretty great…they look much nicer in person than on the site, with leather noses and wool felt clothes.

I also just found my way here. I don´t know if you know, but as a finn i wanted to let you know that “unessa” (that great framed teatowel! Love it!) means :” in a dream/ asleep”. Oh, my english sucks, but you get the idea. And mrs. Sumppi is ” mrs poor coffee”.

    Looks so nice here!

well that’s *kind of* the story anyway. i found that troll site when i was looking for the original trolls for myself (as i think you did?) + remembered them on your birthday and thought they would make a good gift for you because i know you are (even more) obsessed. however, that does not mean i do not still have my own years-long ebay alert on – just a warning 😉

BESIDES. your mom is eventually going to give hers up to you anyway, i know it! therefore i feel less bad about buying them if they ever DO show up (but at this point i have little faith, honestly)

Oh, I love how I turned the story into you looking for Moomins to buy for ME! Hah! I guess that’s how I operate. 😀 I swear, if one of those Moomin dolls ever shows up on eBay, there is going to be a massive bidding war between you, me, and about 10 other people.

My mother is never going to give them to me! She has three…for each of the three children she had when she bought them. Moomintroll is for Gordy, Snufkin is for Sarah, and Misan is for Melissa. SO UNFAIR. I wasn’t born yet! I’m lucky I was able to get my hands on one of her straw goats, she had four of those.

Anyway, I love my trolls. I have little rotating displays of them in the house!

    straw goats!
well. i am only wanting mtroll, mpapa, and/or/especially STINKY (http://www.fintoys.com/MoominStinky.html) … so you can safely count me out of any other bidding wars.
