I'm a book cover designer and art director based in New York and New Mexico. I've been blogging about home renovation, interiors, graphic design, DIY, food, cosmetics, dogs, art, music, books, and life in general since 1998. I could really use a cup of coffee right now.
I just found your great blog. Love the photos. I have a question. Can you say more about how you lost 60 pounds? I read that in your birthday blog. I commute into NYC 40 minutes and find I’m tired and sit alot. How’d you manage?
smoss: I went from my highest weight ever (~190 pounds) to my current weight of ~132 pounds over the course of about 6 months. I know it’s no fun to hear this, but I did it by eating healthily. I cook almost everything I eat, and I eat portions that are appropriate to a 32-year-old woman (as opposed to a 17-year-old boy)! I’ve maintained my weight loss for 6 months now, and it’s no longer something I really think about very much. I changed the way I eat and how I think about food, and it’s just a part of my consciousness on a daily basis now. I’ve never been interested in “dieting”, and I think that the best approach to losing weight is to view it as a change of life rather than a temporary effort with an end goal.
My commute is about 2 hours door to door (including walking from Grand Central to my office), and I really don’t mind it at all. Metro North is very reliable, and I spend my time reading, napping, listening to music, talking to my husband, looking out the window… much more pleasant than the subway ever was for me. It helps to look at the commute time as a peaceful break in my day. 🙂
alfie & cheyenne knew not to beg from me this year, they opted to beg from P – they must know that the turkey was on his plate. saying that, i still managed to gain 2 pounds but i will lose it this week as i am so busy right now.
