The sun is out and reflecting off of the fresh layer of snow we got in Newburgh last night—it’s winter, it’s beautiful, and it’s the last day of the year. My mice are enjoying their fresh pot of wheatgrass, and I’m preparing for a late-night feast with friends at our house tonight.
Be safe, be happy, be bright. In 2008, let’s spend less money, fix more things that are broken, and say hello to people we don’t know!

I did not realize you had mice. How cute. Their home is as nicely styled as your own. Happy New Year to you and your family, two and four legged. I like your proposal of spending less and fixing more. I am making my “to do” list today.

happy new year to you!
happy new year, love! i adore your positive little send off. my plans are to spend less, plant more, and generally be more mindful in my interactions with others. it’s going to be a great year.
your mice have such a cute space!
happy new year 🙂
What a pretty space for your mice. I may have to steal that idea for our wee rat. 🙂
Aimee, the mouse house is an ASKER pot from IKEA. It’s perfect, as it has a flat back and bottom and can sit vertically or horizontally. It’s stoneware with a matte glaze, and it comes completely clean with warm water and dish soap. I try not to use any plastics around my animals, so I was happy to find a chew-proof home for them in a nice material.
The wood branch is from the reptile section at PetSmart. Don’t use anything from outside, as it could have mites or other parasites living in it.
Your mice are the cutest. They look very happy 🙂
i came back to this entry to look at the mice. again. ahaha, so cute.
anywho, are those mossy rock guys from target? i just found ones just like it there that were on clearance!
