    Welcome to the grey side!!!

(If I tell anyone I’m painting, their question ALWAYS is “what color grey???”) 😉

  • Reply aftermath July 30, 2008 at 5:46 am

Me too. Except my loves are a sectional from Room&Board and some yellow and grey sheets. Frye boots are a great purchase; I love mine.

that chest of drawers is swoon worthy. i myself have had a long-standing love affair with everything gray. love it.

  • Reply Rebee July 30, 2008 at 7:53 am

I love those, especially the boots. I’m also a fan of grey – I think it’s a very unappreciated color.

oh! I’m all about the gray lately too! it just sort of snuck up on me, I have to admit. These gray selections are all pretty to-die-for, especially those boots [swoon].

    also? LOVE the new header!

All I can seem to make are little gray owls for the shop lately! I’m so glad to have discovered a passion for gray.

I have been trying to paint my living room grey for a while, and have had no luck finding the right color! I keep seeing pictures of rooms with a perfect light, warm, grey, and everything I try is too blue, too brown, too dark, etc…. I’m starting to think my apartment is refusing to be painted.

I love your taste, and I have seen other design blogs loving that Togo sofa, but I have to say I think it is the most godawful, ugly sofa ever. But everything else I have ever seen you pick is lovely. 🙂

I visit your blog often and was so surprised and excited to see my chest of drawers today!! Thank you! I am a grey fan as well!

i knowwwwww. that dresser is exactly what i need in my room. weh!

I think grey is a nice colour when the sun shines, but here, in London, we would need bright white and happy colours!!! I like the boots (very useful here!).
I prefer the other header: this one is nice, but too many drops for me! (I would need to move to a sunny place, for sure!!!:)).

love the Molto sectional, hate the Togo sofa. it does look comfortable, but it looks to much like dorm room furniture for my tastes, i like things sleek. i do love grey though. i think it makes a much better neutral than beige or khaki.

i love gray. most of my walls are gray. as well as my soul. whoops, sorry, having a flashback. hee hee.

I love gray too! Even more importantly, I would love to know how Bruno and Fritz are doing. Can’t wait to see your bathroom with the paper on the walls. Keep up the good work!

gorgeous!! you have such great taste.

After reading Jennifer’s comment, that is exactly what is happening in my case. Could you tell me what the color name, number and brand are for the shade of gray on the walls in the above picture – the one with the gray sofa.

  • Reply Anna at D16 January 31, 2009 at 3:44 pm

Jane: The photo you’re wondering about is from a CB2 catalog from last summer — unfortunately, I have no idea what the name of the color is. Definitely take a look at the comments on this post, though! There were lots of suggestions for beautiful pale gray paint colors.

  • Reply Jane Dobbs February 3, 2009 at 12:45 pm

Jennifer: Did you ever find the pefect gray – not too dark, not too blue, not too brown, etc…
It’s at the point where someone has to give me a name of the paint with the color number and the brand of paint it is.
I did one wall in Misty Gray. It’s barely reconizable in my eyes; too light.
I did a section in Bunny Grey; too dark and blueish.
I’m wondering now about Marilyn’s Dress which seems to come between the 2 but feel it’s still too blueish.
    Someone please help!

I need a gray that is very neutral with no blue, green or purple undertones. I have tried every sample imaginable, but they all look different ion different walls. I have a lot of natural light and so far Harbor Gray by BM has been the best option, however on 2 of the walls, it looks blue. The other 2 walls look great! HELP!!!

  • Reply Elke January 14, 2010 at 6:10 pm

I’ve also added 50% and 75% to Harbor Gray to create 2 versions of the color. I like the darkest one (at 75%), but I’m worried that the blue will immerse.

  • Reply ShashiNYC January 3, 2017 at 6:11 pm

I love Rubidoux from Pratt and Lambert…warm grey/gray with some brown undertones. Alas, P&L isn’t as ubiquitous as it once was…dealers hard to find, even in NYC.
