Vanity + Wearables

My new favorite shoes.

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a pair of Peony flats from Clarks (part of their Indigo line), and they have quickly become my favorite shoes. No, they aren’t sexy, but they are perfect. Super-soft leather insole, rubber sole that’s flat (but not too flat), slightly pointed toe (but not too pointy), a bit of patent leather detail at the bottom, and so, so, SO comfortable. I really needed a pair of simple shoes that are more durable than my usual thin-soled ballet flats, which tend to wear out very quickly on city sidewalks. These seem to be very well made. I love them.

They’re on super-sale at Clarks stores, by the way—I got mine for $40, much less than they are at Zappos.

I never saw myself as the Clarks type (let’s be honest, most of their women’s shoes are hideous), but I think I want these (in black), too. I bet they’re really comfortable, too.

p.s. I’m not wearing tapered jeans, it’s an illusion! They’re just extra-long skinnies that are bunched up around my ankles. I don’t want anybody getting the wrong idea…

I am a huge fan of Clarks as they actually come in my size (women’s 12 – not easy to find) and seem to be quite good quality for the price. I love the Indigo brand for cute sandals and the Privo brand for good work shoes I can be on my feet in all day and still look cute. I love that not all their stuff looks like Wallabees any more. Not everything needs to be sexy but they have got cute and comfy covered.

Ohhh, how cute. I have a Clark’s store at our local outlet mall so I’ll have to look see if they carry these. I need a pair of goes with everything shoes for fall!

Simply adorable. I need new shoes now that my postpregnancy feet have swelled to a size 11!
Totally off subjest, I recently found you through flicker and am totally jealous of your georgeous house. You have great taste.

They’re cute! Good for walking around in the city.

nice find! it’s funny that even though flats aren’t considered to be sexy in the stereotypical sense, i love how they look and feel as though they’re seductive in a more subdued way.

Those look fantastic, I agree, I always thought that Clarks’ shoes were ugly; as I reminisce about the good old days when I wore their shoes as school shoes. But your post proves otherwise.

I also especially love the colour of your scarf.

    ps/ your bathtub is stellar.

ha, that’s funny! i just bought some clarks sandals (although traditional clarks, not the “edgier” Indigo line) because they were so comfortable that i talked myself in to believing they were cute. my boyfriend says they are hideous. it’s not exactly true. although they do look like something my mom (who’s 60, single, a teacher, lives in Arizona) would wear when her teva’s were too casual. but they are SOOOOOOOO comfy. so much better than flip flops.

I can see why you love them… they look gorgeous. I, myself, am planning to get some Clarks Henderson Way’s in grey patent this very weekend…

Yay British Quaker shoes 😉 Clarks were what everyone wore to school back in the 80s/90s. So glad they do more exciting designs now. I have a great pair of Clarks boots from last winter.

i’ve noticed that that indigo line has some okayish shoes. those ones are nice, they have the same profile as my cheapo h&m flats, which after a summer of no socks don’t smell very good.

ooh! nice! I don’t know if we can get them in Australia but now I will look.
Interesting what you say about shoes not looking sexy. I know i’m not a guy, so it’s not like I am looking at women and their shoes as a guy does, but as a chick, I think we look really bad when our shoes are OBVIOUSLY uncomfortable, don’t fit, are too high etc etc. Like the old adage says, it’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it (within reason). So a chic pair of flats worn with happiness will look FABULOUS – as do yours!
thanks for sharing your shoe joy

I bought a pair of Clarks boots this past winter, because I needed something to get me through the snow yet also that I could wear during the day at work (I hate changing from boots to shoes) and they are great- totally waterproof and very comfortable!

As long as your not tight rolling your jeans like Katie Holmes I don’t think we have anything to worry about!

Well, if you now love Clarks you are really in luck. About 500 different Clarks styles are on sale at 6pm.com, all for $29.94. I found out about it from Barkingdogshoes.com. The sale ends on August 27.

nooo, they were much more gnome-like. i’ve checked on a couple sites but not too deeply, as i shouldnt be spending money!

lsaspacey: I just had a look at those sale shoes. YIKES. That’s a whole lot of ugly. I think it’s safe to say that I definitely do NOT love Clarks on the whole, I just like a couple of pairs. 😉

Those look so cool on you! You’ve inspired me. Now I’m jonesing for a pair — hope my husband will understand!

i truly agree that clark’s really have some good collection and they always design shoes according to people’s like and comfort but i prefer a front opened one rather than a closed one like yours
