Four Legs + HOUSE: Newburgh

All puppies, all the time.

I know, all I have to talk about right now is FRITZ, FRITZ, FRITZ. It’s all-consuming! Things are going well. Bruno has left the “if I ignore him, maybe he’ll just disappear” stage, and has entered the “I’ll play with him, but he can’t sleep next to me” stage. It’s so fun to watch them play! Bruno chases Fritz, Fritz zooms around the house like a maniac, Fritz does a war dance in front of Bruno, Bruno chases Fritz, Fritz falls asleep, Bruno falls asleep (in a separate bed, of course), etc. It’s great. Fritz is also starting to get the hang of the whole housebreaking thing, so it’s possible our living room rug could make a reappearance as early as next week.

Fritz looooooves to chew! He’s also a fan of his new bed from Otis and Claude (seen here with a LUDDE sheepskin wrapped around the cushion). I dream of the day when he and Bruno are curled up in it together!

Meanwhile…
→ the plumbers are on their fourth day of work (!), and the roughing-in still isn’t done
→ the quote came in on our garden plan from the landscaper, and it is INSANE
→ a tree guy is coming to remove the offending mulberry tree today (for a very reasonable price)
→ maybe we can build a fence ourselves after all…

I love your dog bed (err… I mean Fritz’s)! Please please where is it from?

  • Reply jana April 16, 2008 at 10:51 am

I think soon they will love each other very much. Or maybe when you´re not there, they lie together, and when you come, they´re not such good friends… It was like that, when we got a cat: when they were together alone with our dog on the garden, they slept together, and when we came out, the dog was pretending he hates the cat. Just because we saw him. Funny. He just wanted to be the tough boy, not someone who plays with a cat, you know :-).
I also think you could handle the garden yourselves… Or maybe you have someone skillful in the family, or a friend to help you. If you managed to do more difficult repairs in the house, the garden shouldn´t be much harder.

Zinzi, I ordered the bed from this site (this is a size medium/round). It’s great! There is a little gap in the wood pieces at the center front, but it’s not a big deal.

Oh great thanks so much! I’m getting a puppy soon (wishing and hoping; thinking and praying) and I just fell instantly in love!

PS I agree your puppy is sooo cute!

Love that dog bed!!! This would be perfect for my cats. I’m tired of our current beds for them, which just get covered in hair and are hard to clean.

    Good luck with the bathroom.

Such a bummer about the landscaping quote!

I have almost no problem with all Fritz all the time. I’m now even more obsessive about wanting a dog. Though I have no business with two house cats and a basement kitty.

I am in love with Fritz and can’t imagine that Bruno will not fall hard very soon.

OHHHH…my god little Fritz is just one cutie 😀

one of those beds will be appearing in our lounge very soon!. i am so glad that bruno & fritz are getting on. i literally just got back from getting lyme vaccines for chey & alfie – it was so adorable/sad. it is a painful shot as it goes intramuscular & little alfie screamed…..when he did chey practically jumped on the table to rescue him. i know bruno & fritz will be firm friends & that makes me so happy!.

They are sooooo cute. Both of them. I could really picture one running after the other around the house. I was in two minds about getting a pet. Reading your post has made me tilt to wards YES.

    Such cute puppies!

Is that the Everett throw from Crate and Barrel I spy? I’ve been thinking about ordering it, but haven’t seen it in person. Is it comfy? Does it shed? It looks great!

  • Reply Anna at D16 April 17, 2008 at 5:27 pm

CJB: Yes, it is the Everett throw! Good eye. It’s 100% silk, so it definitely doesn’t shed at all. It has a very loose weave. Not super soft, but not scratchy or anything, either. Definitely for springtime coolness, not winter nights. I love how graphic it looks!

I’ve enjoyed the Fritz updates. I have never had a dog, but both of yours make me see why people do. They are funny and cute.

That dog bed is amazing. It proofs that dog beds can be stylish. Maybe I’ll buy one for my dog (and cats!) if they ship to Europe..

Ana, I have found a company that will ship Fritz’s dog bed to us in London! Can I ask you, (honestly) if you’ve had any problems with it so far? We will need the big size, I fear, for our lurcher, Stimpy, who is only 8 months and huge, and I want to make sure that it’ll be worth all the extra hassle of getting it shipped. We live in a MCM house in London and thought the dark wood might go better with our decor (!) but I think aesthetically the lighter wood looks better. Did you see the dark one in the flesh when you bought yours? Thanks for any advice! Here’s stimpy when he was a small pup (as opposed to a huge pup!!!)

    Hi,
I was just wondering, can you please tell me where you got the black carry crate shown in the first photo, I have been looking for one like that for ages now!
Also, what have you lined the bottom with?
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks!

  • Reply Anna at D16 October 14, 2008 at 7:32 pm

    Hi Steph,
That’s just a standard small dog crate. I bought it about 6 years ago, but I think you can get them at any of the large pet stores. There’s a crate mat in the bottom (again, pet stores sell them to fit all the standard crate sizes) — I made a slipcover for it out of raw linen to make it more attractive.
