What a weekend! Nice weather has finally arrived in New York (I’m going to ignore the rain/cold that’s coming up over the next few days), and the four-legged among us appreciate it every bit as much as we do. I’m not looking forward to going back to work in the morning. I want to work in the garden, drink iced coffees, and let the dogs run around outside.
That’s a real stick Fritz is carrying in his mouth, by the way. He almost looks like a real dog!
Bruno, on the other hand, refuses to look like a real dog. He is pure Muppet, through and through.

so, just glancing at these photos quickly i actually thought, “cute dog!” and “oh, a mini-falcor!”
ha!
Awwww! Too, too cute!!!
They are so cute! 🙂 Lissu is afraird of Outdoors so no fun outings for us.
Ah they are so very cute 🙂 my dog loves the sun, he lays out in the back garden when the sun is out sunbathing. He too is not a real dog 😉
adorable!. alfie will never carry sticks, only acorns.
They are so cute! Spring is here is Minnesota as well! It feels great to have the windows open again!
They are both sooo cute– and I love that your muppet is named “Bruno!” How perfect!!
I’m not ready for Monday either! We had one of our first beautiful days here in the Pacific North West yesterday too.. it seems that it’s happening to everyone! Fritz is doing a very good “real dog” imitation. They’re both adorable.
Too funny!! We call our pup muppet-mouth. Especially when she has long hair. Love your blog and your cute doggies!

Brilliant names for adorable dogs.
I’ve been seeing so many people out and about in our neighborhood – all of them walking their dogs. The dogs look so happy not to be cooped up indoors anymore – I don’t think anyone enjoys spring more than dogs!
Fritz and Bruno are just so cute – I wish I could get my cat Toby to carry a stick around like that! He usually just carries around bottle caps.
Absolutely Precious!
Adorable! And they are always, always welcome at the mini dog park.
My family is finally ready to make the plunge and get a puppy. I really want a Chihuahua, since we are in Brooklyn and have an apartment. I am struggling with the Petstore/Breeder option. How did you decide where to shop for your pet and did you go with a pet store or a breeder. If you have a responsible, reputable place, I would love a recommendation. Thank you.
Mary-Ellen: Whatever you do, DO NOT buy a dog from a pet store. If you’ve done any research at all, I’m sure you know why already! I think the best option is almost always to get a dog from a rescue shelter (trust me, puppies are overrated), but Fritz came from a breeder near us. Feel free to email me (anna AT doorsixteen.com) if you have any questions – this is a pretty gigantic topic that is probably too big for this forum. 🙂
Isn’t this weather amazing and so inspiring.
I stopped by today to propose something.
I am a figurative sculptor and am wondering if you are interested in letting me do a bust of you for my most recent project idea. I have a blog called 12 Pair and I’m looking for 12 people to sculpt for a project with the working title of “Blogger Portraits”.
If you are interested, please check out my blog where you can read more about the project here:

Thanks for doing what you do. Checking out your blog brightens my day.
D
Bruno needs a hug and a squeezing from me!
So has the Japanese Maple been chewed yet???
xD.
Your Bruno is too cute. Seriously he just gave me puppy fever. Love his muppet-look!
Trust me, you do not want Bruno to look like a real dog. Our shih tzu is nothing but a ball of knots and dirt from a week of spring rain and mud. Lots and lots of mud. It’s past the point of no return for him, he actually has to be shaved on Wednesday so that he resembles a living object again lol.
Aww, so cute! My family’s dog hardly resembles a four-legged creature either. A pomeranian-poodle mix, she understands the words you have to spell out in front of her, and when I take her to the beach other people’s dogs she’ll gladly sit on a bench rather than splash around or dig.
I saw some cute pups at Ikea yesterday. People are getting their puppy on in the nice weather.
I’m dying to get a friend for Iggy. Are 2 pups better than one?
dude, it will be so awesome to be able to have a dog again when we move to NY! that is the first thing we are doing there!
your guys are so cute! oh, and dude Morgan, Iggy needs a BF!!!!!!
Oh those doggies are cute! Fritz looks like he has a stogie!
I totally agree with Anna, never buy a dog, when there are so many ,that need homes !!! dog shelter all the way !!!
Cute dogs! I love chihuahuas (i have two!)! Your ‘muppet’ is a cutey too!
What cuties! (And thanks for connecting me with Jo. Tried to email you, but it failed.) I missed your blog when I was on vacation!
Cute, cute, cute! Fritz and Bruno are just both so adorable.
And Mary Ellen – Right now, with the economy in the dumps, so many people are dropping their pets off at the shelter. Please, please consider going the shelter/rescue route. If you must have a specific type of dog, search for a reputable breeder. Anna is absolutely correct – NEVER go to the pet store. Okay, 2 cents done. Sorry for running away with your comments section. I actually just recently did a blog post on the whole shelter dog thing so it’s been on my mind.
Oh my, those are the cutest dogs! x
Anna, I am totally with you.
OMG, they’re so cute, I wanna put them in my pocket 🙂
the hostas do die away and come back, so maybe you have that to look forward too … here in seattle they aren’t up yet and they thrive here. hope that helps! from one old home renovator to another, cheers!
Your backyard and back door look pretty similar to mine (just moved into house in Union City, NJ) and I love the pics you’ve chosen as inspiration.
This weekend is set aside for taming the wildness in the back yard….i hope it doesn’t rain.
cute pups!!!!
i love your dog and specially fritz OMG he is so cute,
Going to be planting boxwood bushes today. These look great, Inspiring!
