Art + Design + I Design Stuff

New stuff at K IS FOR BLACK.

doorsixteen_kisforblack2015_01

I don’t often mention on my blog what’s happening in my shop, K IS FOR BLACK, but I’ve been adding some new stuff these last few months and there’s a free shipping thing going on today this week, so…why not?

My two most recent prints are Are We There Yet and Volkswagen, New Mexico (I took that photo in Truth Or Consequences, not in a town called Volkswagen, hah). I must have summer on the brain in a big way, because they both feel very put-on-your-sunglasses-and-go, don’t they?

Most of the designs in my shop are available printed on other products, of course, including t-shirts, pillows, mugs, phone cases, totes, clocks, wall tapestries…and so on. I’ve now tried out almost everything Society6 offers, so if you have any questions, fire away!

The latest addition to the line are LEGGINGS (!!!), and I am kind of obsessed with them. I’ve been wearing these Bright Droplets leggings as pants, and I love seeing people’s reactions to them on the street. Lots of smiles! I now want to get everything printed on leggings.

I’ll stop talking about my own work now!! I don’t know why it still makes me feel embarrassed, but it does. Which is weird, because this is my blog? (That’s not a question. This is my blog.)

OK, go check out the new stuff at K IS FOR BLACK and get yourself some free shipping! Happy Sunday!

Hi Anna! I love the new tights too. One thing I can’t really tell about them from the photos is whether the finish on the fabric is shiny or matte, and whether they breathe. Any info you can share would be great. Thank you!

Hi Britta! Just so it’s clear, these are leggings, not tights (I think of tights as having feet and no seam). They’re not shiny or matte…somewhere in between. The fabric is similar to what a swimsuit is made out of. I don’t find them

    • Anna @ D16 May 31, 2015 at 10:07 pm

Oops, hit reply by accident! I don’t find them unbreathable, but they’re definitely more like what you’d wear for the gym/running than, say, leggings you might wear as pajamas.

      Does that help?

    • Britta June 1, 2015 at 2:50 pm

Yes, thank you Anna. Sorry for the confusing language. I understand they are leggings, and the description you provided is helpful. Thanks for taking the time to respond. 🙂

      No problem, Britta! 🙂

Aaarrrggghhh!!! You’re doing my head in with the missing question mark!!!

    • Anna @ D16 May 31, 2015 at 10:09 pm

Haha! Sorry, Pippa. Does it help if I tell you the omission of the question mark was absolutely intentional and not a typo?

I totally ordered the bright droplets leggings. (I may or may not have gone on a legging binge…) Can’t wait to get them and wear them to the gym.

    • Anna @ D16 May 31, 2015 at 10:09 pm

Awesome. 🙂 I hope you love them!

Hi, love the leggings! Just wondering, when you say ‘leggings as pants’ what you wear them with? I love leggings but hate to see the crotch part and find it hard to get t shirts long enough.

    The Volkswagen is great!

      Thanks, Natalie!

So happy to see the Vile art print back, I just went on a little shopping binge over at your shop.

    Hi Anna,
I love the leggings and would love to get therm :)) I’ve checked the measurements on the site but would be good to know what size you have as a point of reference – like when they say model wears size 8 etc etc.
    🙂 thank you!

    • Anna @ D16 June 3, 2015 at 10:54 am

Michelle, I know, I’d love for them to do that too! If it’s helpful, I ordered a size medium and it fits me perfectly—I’m a pretty solid size 8 in most clothes.

The leggings are super new so I haven’t heard much feedback from people about the fit of the other sizes yet, but hopefully that’ll come in time. 🙂

This is a off-topic, but the frame pictured around your ARE WE THERE YET poster is exactly what I’ve been looking for but cannot find anywhere. (Thanks, Ikea, for discontinuing the big wood ribba frames.) Any hints on where to find frames like that?

(Also, I really want that poster, regardless of all this frame talk.)

    • Anna @ D16 June 4, 2015 at 10:46 am

Hi SLG, unfortunately, that frame doesn’t actually exist outside of Photoshop! You may need to build it yourself if that’s the look you want—I have no idea where to buy such a thing.

    • SLG June 4, 2015 at 1:15 pm

Alas, photoshop strikes again! But that totally makes sense. Thanks for the info — maybe it’s time for me to figure out how to build frames.
