Music + Movies + Books

At the 1975 Grammy Awards.

From the Completely Unrelated to Anything department, I bring you this fantastic clip from the 1975 Grammy Awards!

I don’t even know where to start with the awesomeness. Beyond the cast of characters onstage, how about those rainbow-colored heads awkwardly pushed in to announce the nominees? And O.N.J.’s name dropping down from the ceiling! We’ve gotten so used to everything being digitized that this almost feels like a high school production of Oklahoma.

I think I said, “What? Seriously?” about 15 times while watching this 4 1/2-minute clip. So great.

    I was 18 in 1975!

    Paul and John look stoned.
The Grammy awards was a joke and farce back then.
Eveyone was listing to Joni Mitchell or the Dead in 1975. NOT ONJ :)>

That is fantastic!! I think award shows would be way more fun if they were still like that. Thanks for sharing this tidbit from the “completely unrelated to anything department”.

I didn’t realize Paul Simon was a total load even as far back as 1975! I always thought that came later.

This is YouTube at its best…

Loved it! I love the 70s, how sad that John only had 5 more years after that. How many beautiful songs would he have written that we never got to hear?….
