Four Legs + HOUSE: Newburgh

Vacation looks like this.

Well, it looks like this for at least another 30 minutes. Then I really have to get up and get busy.

As I’ve mentioned, I usually spend my vacation time working on the house, and this week is no exception. I have a rough outline of what I’m trying to accomplish before next Sunday, but my basic plan is just to move through the house gradually, completing as many projects as possible in one room before moving on to the next.

But: I will paint the living room windows. I will. (The insides, at least.) Because it has been four years (!) since we bought this house, and there is just no excuse for them still being covered with peeling yellow paint.

Meanwhile, I’m trying to keep the dogs from going totally bonkers while workers climb around on the roof. I think they’re installing the roof hatch today, and maybe finishing a chimney. Tomorrow…basement windows? I hope so. As fun as it’s been having rotting plywood instead of glass for the past four years, I’m looking forward to this little improvement to the underbelly of our domicile.

My vote is for the couch at least for a little bit longer… lots of luck accomplishing your list!

My father almost always used his vacation time to rest and relax on the couch AND to do work around the house. Painting, sanding, building. Make the best of the time and really, do whatever if is you WANT to do.

I can relate to the peeling yellow paint. We have been in our house for 5 years and still have tons of little projects like that! It really bugs me!!! Someday…

I have peeling yellow paint around my windows too. Good luck with all of your projects – I can’t wait to see the results!
And pretty toenails! I’ve been wearing grey recently too. 🙂

p.s. The toenail polish color is Essie Chinchilly (a light, warm gray), in case anyone is wondering. 🙂

You’ll have to be strong to fight that double furball cuteness! Good luck with your projects.

  • Reply Jean April 19, 2010 at 12:55 pm

wow, that is pretty impressive that you’d spend some of your vacation in the basement of all places!

Good luck, looking forward to seeing the results.

I would love to have 2 little furry dogs laying on me to keep me warm…can’t wait to see what you have in store for us, have a nice vacation. You’re getting really good at telling us who, what, where everything is from, but you didn’t tell us who makes the nail polish 🙂

    @Sue: Yes, I did — scroll up a few comments. 😉

    Hi Anna!
If this is what holiday looks like, it sure looks good 😉 . You already did so much. When I have a few days off, I always make a list of jobs needed to be done. At the end of the holiday they’re still on my list… I have a few days off next week, so I might take your good example! Hope you also can enjoy your well deserved holiday!

Oh, my bad, I guess the brand is Essie, 🙂

I love the phrase “underbelly of our domicile” 🙂

  • Reply Anna at D16 April 19, 2010 at 11:26 pm

Thanks, Amanda. 🙂 I think that sounds much nicer than “basement”.
